Commercial Law
Commercial law is a subdivision that encompasses all the legislation related to the commerce. It regulates commercial relations between individuals.
The provisions are basically gathered in the Commercial Law (Law No. 6762, 1956). In addition, the Capital Markets Law, Bank Cards and Credit Cards Law are within the scope of the commercial law.
Among the basic concepts of the commercial law are the merchant, commercial business, trade register, trade title, unfair competition, commercial books, current account, mercantile broker, dealership and trade partnerships.
Commercial partnerships are collective, limited partnerships, joint-stock companies, limited liability corporations, cooperative partnerships. The law related to the documents are specified under the title “negotiable papers”. They are either written in the names or titles. The policies, bills, checks, commodity notes, promissory notes are negotiable papers.
Maritime trade law, insurance law (except social insurance) are other commercial law issues.
The Commercial Law No. 6102 adopted on 13.01.2011 is in force.
